At the age of 7, Clara decided she wanted to be a filmmaker. Years later, she turned down a place at Oxford and stayed in LA to continue pursuing her dream. Clara was ready to focus solely on filmmaking without the distraction of a "day job," but she needed the financial freedom to do it. That’s when she found Pave.
Clara met 15 backers who let her pursue a film career without the burden of financial debt.
Clara wanted financial freedom to build her career as a filmmaker and think long-term instead of slaving away at non-sequitur jobs to make ends meet. She got support from a team of backers invested in her budding success and hit the ground running post-grad school.
"Pave enabled and empowered me to pursue my passion of filmmaking during the critical year post-MFA. It also allowed me the infinitely valuable freedom to focus on my career and take jobs I couldn't otherwise have offered to take."
Clara's backers include a partner at Flashlight Films, the managing director of WhoSay Inc. and an independent investor.
Since receiving backer support, Clara’s career has seen several noteworthy accomplishments. One of her scripts was a finalist in the Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab for the second year in a row, while her short film was purchased by iTunes and Shorts International. In addition to writing, she also produced a film starring James Franco and won a screenwriting award. She additionally finally joined SAG (at last being able to pay the high joining fees thanks to Pave), and signed with a commercial/print agent.
